A Cultural Sanctuary for Black Girls
For over 30 years, we’ve created spaces where young Black girls find their voice, embrace their culture, and step boldly into their future. We equip them with confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of self that lasts a lifetime.
How It All Began
In 1979, Fatimah Halim, Executive Director & Founder, arrived in Phoenix from New York City—pregnant, hopeful, and searching for her village. She longed for the rhythm, culture, and community that give young Black girls a sense of belonging. From that need, Blueprint for Womanhood was born. What began as a small circle of mothers and mentors evolved into a transformative institution—a place where our girls are affirmed, educated, and empowered to thrive in a world that often misrepresents them.

Strengthening the Village
We are entering an exciting phase of growth; expanding beyond the traditional 12-week program to offer year-round workshops, mentorship, and cultural experiences, giving our girls more opportunities to learn, grow, and lead. Through community partnerships and cultural immersion, our girls connect to their heritage, build confidence, and strengthen their sense of belonging.
